PAINT WITH CONFIDENCE

Have you ever wanted to have more confidence in your painting? If you haven’t picked up a brush in years or you are unsure of your next steps in pushing your existing skills, this 10 week course will instil the confidence to tackle any subject you wish.

 

I will guide you with techniques I’ve used in over 25 years as a professional artist and illustrator. We will explore and learn using examples from the old masters and how you can apply them to your work.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

I will help you build a solid foundation in composition, colour theory, brushwork, and more. With each passing week, you'll witness your confidence grow as you tackle exciting projects, experiment with different styles, and develop your unique
artistic voice.

Areas we cover include

  • The four basic qualities of colour: hue, value, chroma, temperature

  • Mixing colour

  • Movement: actual motion, intentional motion, implied motion

  • Contrasts: Values - light against darks, Scale - large vs small, Colour - bright vs dull​

  • Edges: sharp edges, soft edges, lost edges, repeating edges

  • Brushwork: angle, pressure, shape, load, pull, edge, size, direction, expression

  • Composition

  • Texture

All the materials are provided so no need to worry whether you have the correct supplies.
