GET CONFIDENT USING COLOUR

Have you ever had the thought "am I using the right colour?" The choice of colour options can be overwhelming. In this 5 week course we explore, what exactly is the colour wheel, mixing fresh vibrant colour, value and colour relationships and most importantly knowing why to make your colour choices.

I will guide you with techniques I’ve used in over 25 years as a professional artist and illustrator. We will explore and learn using examples from the old masters and how you can apply them to your work.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

I will help you build a solid foundation in colour theory, how to mix the colour you want and avoid the dreaded muddy colours!

With each passing week, you'll witness your confidence grow as you understand how colour really works enabling you to explore your artistic voice.

Areas we cover include

  • The four basic qualities of colour: hue, value, chroma, temperature

  • The Colour wheel, primary, secondary and tertiary colours

  • Values - light against darks, Colour - bright vs dull​

  • Complementary colours

  • Cool and warm colours

  • Ways to mix a neutral

  • Dominant, subordinate and intermediate colour
